From the set of Hannibal, a glimpse into the life of Dr. Frederick Chilton -- played by Raul Esparza. He and Dr. Lecter seem to have similar TASTES.

Having worked together previously on Pushing Daisies, Executive Producer Bryan Fuller and Raul Esparza are reuniting on Hannibal. Raul will play Dr. Frederick Chilton. Although the TV series starts prior to Dr. Lecter's incarceration, fans of Red Dragon and The Silence Of The Lambs will remember Dr. Chilton as the director of the sanitarium holding Dr. Lecter; by the time of the HANNIBAL film, Dr. Chilton had been missing for several years, with the suggestion being that his disappearance had been caused by Lecter. Raul has won numerous awards for his stage performances, and was nominated in all four Tony categories for which an actor is eligible (being just the second performer ever to achieve that). It's great to have him as part of the team.

Raul Esparza cast as Frederick Chilton

Raul Esparza has been cast as Frederick Chilton in Hannibal. Esparza previously worked with Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller on his show Pushing Daisies. 

The character has previously been portrayed by Benjamin Hendrickson in Michael Mann's 1986 Red Dragon adaptation Manhunter and by Anthony Heald in 1991's The Silence of the Lambs and 2002's Red Dragon.
